Instructing a paint session. #artisgoodforyou

Khaula Mazhar Artist

Self-taught, internationally exhibited artist Khaula Mazhar’s intrigue in emotions evoked by situations and surroundings seeps its way into her multifaceted subject matter. Painting mostly with acrylics, and when her patience allows, oils, she conveys feelings that range from festive and lively, tranquil and contemplative to nostalgic and melancholy. An avid admirer of Rumi, much of her work is inspired by his writing. Two of her major exhibitions have focused on women’s empowerment and issues and her figurative work often portrays women’s resilience and their amazing ability to evolve.

A part of numerous private and public collections her work can also be seen around the GTA as part of public art projects, street art, and art exhibits. Her work been in several juried shows and received certificates of recognition and merit. She has been invited both by former Premier Kathleen Wynne and Ontario NDP Leader Andrea Horwath’s offices to exhibit her work for Islamic Heritage month receptions. She is a member of the Toronto West Arts Collaborative, the Federation of Canadian Artists, the Color and Form Society and the Arts Council as well as a regular competitor at Art Battle. I have a children’s book published about a little girl who wants to spend some time with her mother, but Mama is always just so busy! If you are interested in buying, it is available online here: SaeedBook Bank

This is not an e-book, but I wrote it when I lived in Pakistan, so it is only available in shops there.  I had also written a novel there that won a commendation certificate from the National Book Foundation in Islamabad. I am still fixing it up along with two other YA novels I have written. I plan to barrage the NYT best-seller list all at once. Seriously, one day I am going to make some lucky Agent very happy.

  1. Hello newest Spikey! I know, a bit corny, eh, but that’s the term that has come to stick for those folk who are part of the clan known to be followers of Uncle Spike 🙂

Thank you… I really appreciate that as I for one, know how many interesting and entertaining blogs are out there.

My aim is to deliver an eclectic offering of posts, from my ‘point n shoot’ attempts at basic photography, to the sharing of my travel adventures over the decades, as well as day to day happenings here on the farm. Oh, plus a few observations on life as I see it, thrown in for good measure.

My promise to you is not to be overbearing, just a couple of posts a day, maybe 3 at weekends if I have something special to share. But if you are at a loose end one day, maybe you’ll enjoy trawling through some of my older stuff too. I have added plenty of categories to help in said digging process.

Thanks again and hope you have a great day…

  2. I was hooked when you got to chocolate, big qualifier though: dark or milk? If you say milk, we have nothing more to talk about.
